Sobre el Museo

Step into a majestic 16th-century coral stone architectural jewel in the heart of the Colonial Zone, where the thick aroma of molasses and the echo of oak barrels transport you directly to the origins of the Dominican Republic's most emblematic spirit.

🌟 A Sensory Journey: From Ancient Sugar Mills to High-End Mixology

The Dominican Rum Bar & Museum breaks all traditional molds. It is not just a passive exhibition hall, but a living organism that breathes agricultural history by day and exhales avant-garde mixology by night. During your tour, you can walk among copper stills and observe the "cuyaya" up close, a fascinating cane juice extraction machine dating back to 1800. It is an interactive journey through the five fundamental stages of the industrial evolution of our great rum dynasties: Brugal, Barceló, and Bermúdez.

But the real magic happens when history is served in a glass. This space has its own artisanal maceration laboratory and a gastronomic menu that elevates street food to the category of art.

  • Botanical Laboratory: Taste the house's exclusive line of macerated rums. You will be surprised by unexpected flavor profiles like the exotic cilantro rum (macerated for 4 weeks), the intense coffee rum, or the warm cinnamon rum.
  • Disruptive Mixology: You have to try the "Brujería" cocktail. A bold mix that fuses cinnamon rum, the ancestral Dominican Mamajuana, tequila, and craft beer for RD$350. If you prefer a reinvented classic, ask for the "Rum Museum Old Fashioned".
  • Gastronomic Rescue: Accompany your drinks with the ingenious Mofongo Empanada with Chicharrón (RD$500), a brilliant and portable way to eat one of our heaviest and most delicious dishes; or the crispy Dominican Catibias served with wild guava sauce.
  • Vibes for Every Mood: With capacity for 200 people, you can choose between the vibrant main Bar & Lounge, relax outdoors in the beautiful Spanish Patio, or reserve the exclusive Imperial and Don Cesar lounges for absolute privacy.

💡 Go Visit Tip: Timing is key here. We recommend arriving exactly at 4:15 PM to enjoy the museum tour (which is totally free!). By the time you finish soaking up the history, it will be 5:00 PM, the exact time the bar opens its doors. You will be the first to choose the best table on the outdoor patio and transition smoothly from cultural education to cocktail tasting. Order the "#261" cocktail, the house signature, and get ready for the spectacular orange smoke bubble.
